Puertas Abiertas de la Casa Velázquez Madrid (ES)
This project merged from an exchange of letters between a photographer and a poet. Travelling across land and sea, words punctuate the journey and infiltrate the images. Conceived as an interdependence between text and photography, this piece seeks to establish a play of correspondences and echoes between image, landscape, and poetry. It seeks to convey a subjective experience of space through an installation in which the visitor's perception and movement within the work play a central role in constructing the proposed experience. Walking between the images, viewers cause them to oscillate, change light, and sparkle, thus setting the device in motion and activating it with their presence.
Waves carry us
And ocean opens itself
let’s raise anchor
I read aloud in the sea bed
Fishes are surrounding us
Shipwrecked applaud us
We sit on the old stones and play with sand
and little shells
If sun reaches us here
Till those depths
we’ll survive
Indeed, what does this meeting means
But drowning fast, very fast, or become
Transparent crazy
Hundred years later
I have no doubts
simple conventionals players
τώρα θ’ανοίξω τις πόρτες να μπουν τα νερά κι αν
με καλύψουν ακόμη
